Monkey and Friends

Monkey's friend from preschool had her bday last week and it was a ton of fun! They had a clown who painted faces and made balloon animals. And for the first bday party in the last 2 yrs, monkey got to eat cake! Woo hoo!!

Make Ahead Rolls

Last night, I made homemade bread for the first time. This recipe looked easy - no real kneading, no double rising, etc.. So I mix all the ingredients in my KitchenAid mixer and set it to rise. During the rising, I realized I forgot the salt so hopefully that wont matter *much*. After it had risen, I rolled it, cut it and rolled into rolls and then reread the recipe to see if I was supposed to put butter on the tops of them. During my re-reading, I realized I had only put in 2! eggs... that was FOUR short! Yikes! So I have no idea how these will turn out!! I will let you know. Im going to make some for lunch so we will see!!

ETA - Not too bad but definatly dry... My advice? Use all 6 eggs... lack salt didnt seem to matter though

Eggs, Eggs, Eggs!!!!

Monkey had an egg challenge on Friday and passed - WOOHOO! He isn't allergic to eggs anymore! For a little background...I tried to nurse him and had no luck getting him to latch so I pumped for a few weeks and wasn't a fan so we switched to formula again, again and again.. 5 formulas later, we found one that 'worked'. He had NO eczema, stomach issues, reflux on breastmilk but developed ALL of these things, plus recurrent ear infections...No matter what anyone says, I will forever feel guilty for not sticking it out and pumping to give him milk. Sweet girl is the flipside, nursed easily and NO health issues.. Coach says I will nurse her till she is 18... I am afraid to stop! Go ahead, judge!! After a year of health issues, we had him tested for allergies at 1. He was then allergic to eggs (yolk and white). Every year he has added more allergies to the list:( They said we could do the egg challenge. We waited till his breathings issues were better and tried. They said to bring in eggs and of course I had none. We did bring an egg sandwich from McDonalds, donuts, cookies and pancakes. They started with the eggs. First, they just touched his tongue with the eggs and every 15 mins, increased the amt. He LOVED eggs from the first taste (his first taste ever!). I was very surprised because he is a picky eater. The doctor said he probably wasn't allergic anymore because he liked them - most kids dont like the foods they are allergic too! So 3 hrs later, he is in love with eggs and isn't allergic anymore.. Hello cookies, cakes, breads, and donuts!!! It will be so nice to go to bday parties and not have to bring our own dessert!! Lets just say, he has been enjoying all the sweets (eating Krispy Kreme as we speak!) We went to Unos on Friday to celebrate and he ordered Macaroni and Cheese with eggs - ha!

Sweet Girl!

Here are some recent pics/movie of sweet girl. Her hair is getting so long and I am not really sure what to do with it! Someone needs to give me girl hair lessons! She looks so cute in bows but hates them:( She is loving to dance ( i could only get a video of her from behind or she likes to play with the camera!) Note the pointed finger dance! Cute - sorry it is sideways! She is loving her babies and says baby all the time. The pic of her in her jammies is her feeding herself oatmeal!

Monkey's first time on stage!

This past Saturday was the annual Multi-cultural Fair at the early childhood center. Coach played in it last year with two of the district music teachers. They played Dixieland music. This year, monkey got to go on stage with him. As you can see by his attire, I had not planned for this! Had I known he would be on stage, I would not have dressed him in rain boots, a play shirt and too long jeans! Oh well.. here they are!

Menu Plan Monday

It has been waaay too long since I have menu planned! With coach in coaching season, it makes it hard to cook just for me and the kids. We have been eating entirely too much Chicky Fries (McDonald's) and Chick a flay. While I do love fried chicken, it is time to cut back! We still have 2 meets this week to get through so I am sure one of those fancy places will be on the agenda but other than that, it is cooking time! I also have all the freezer meals to get through!

Monday - Probably one of the aforementioned restaurants
Tuesday - Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup
Wednesday - Cheesy Ham Pasta Bake
Thursday - Ranch Chicken Wraps. Football practice so something easy
Friday - Leftover buffet
Saturday - Blue Cheese Stuffed Burgers
Sunday - Chicken Salad

Football!

Monkey is LOVING football! It is pretty funny! His team is the Bengals and they are 1-3. This was his first 'touch' in the game!
