Christmas Events!

Saturday, we had our Christmas activity day! We got up early to be first in line to see santa and decided to take the kids pictures in front of their pretty Christmas display for our card. Then we had the pic with santa which scared the daylights out of sweet girl (we figured it would!), IHOP for breakfast and downtown to see the trains. That night, we drove through the Holiday in Lights complete with jammies for all of us and popcorn! (pics to follow)

Meet the newest member of our family!!

When we woke up this morning, our Elf greeted us! We named him Pipsqueak but Pip for short. He is pretty fun! Here is a video of him that we watched on YouTube!

Monkey's Surgery

Monkey had his tonsils/adenoids out Tuesday morning and we spent the night in the hospital that night. A lot of kids go home the same day but with his breathing/wheezing and pneumonia issues, they wanted us to stay for observation. When we went to see him in recovery, he was just coming out of anesthesia and was in obvious pain :( They had told us they wouldn't give him pain meds in his iv but there was no way he was going to drink Tylenol! So we asked and they gave him something in the iv. Then he went back to sleep and we hung out. About 15 minutes later, we were just sitting there and he sat up, turned to us and growled!!! It scared everyone - nurses, people walking past, other patients!! The nurse said she had never seen anything like it! We don't know if he was really awake doing it or if he was just coming out of anesthesia. So wierd! They took us up to the room on the complex airway floor where about a million nurses, respitory therapists, docs, etc were in there. We got settled in and just hung out! He was really hungry and ate a ton which he promptly threw up :( The gave him anti-nausa meds in his iv and he went back to sleep. Later, he threw up again and there was blood in it which caused a lot of running of docs, nurses, etc into our room.. If this happens, there is another emergency surgery to cauturize the area. Luckily, they didnt see anything on his tonsils and it was most likely irritation from when he threw up earlier. He took his meds pretty well so that was good. The night went ok except for the people that came in hourly to check things out. Wed morning,he was still in a lot of pain and wouldn't drink anything so they gave him a steroid in the iv to reduce the swelling that will last 2-3 days. After that, we went to the other building to play in the playroom which monkey loved. He didn't want to leave! Once they had determined he was drinking enough on his own, they let us leave. He is doing ok - in pain but handling it ok! Much better than I had anticipated so that is good!

I am very grateful we stayed overnite in the hospital. There were a lot of meds he would not have recived and would have made his recovery much harder. Plus, with the bleeding incident, we would have had to pack our stuff back up and go back to the main campus. That is the only place they want you to go for bleeding b/c there are ENT docs there all the time!

Monkey's 5th Bday!

We had a great time at the party although coach and I decided this was the last year for a parents+ kids party... next year, kids only! It was just too crazy and I felt bad for the parents who I am sure were bored out of their minds. The kids had a blast (literally!) though and monkey got waay too many presents! We had an imaginary space shuttle launch in the garage and the kids got to be astronauts and taste astronaut ice cream. We had a shuttle pinata we didnt get to :( The cake was great as usual!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Halloween!

The kids had a great time trick or treating - and you can see by one of the pics why we don't have a lot of pics of sweet girl:) A neighbor down the street has a party for kids every year with games, etc so that was a lot of fun!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Amazing Race

Last night Coach, myself and our friends Beth and Greg competed in the Amazing Race Halloween Edition - it was so much fun... we had to complete tasks and take pictures - we had a blast!

On a side note, this morning I am watching a 2 yr old and a 7 mo old plus my two - wish me luck! On another side note, we are going to the Schutte's this weekend!!! YAYAYAYAY. Carey already has a sitter lined up for us for Saturday so we can have some girl time!!

Fall!

Finally, it's fall! Here are some recent pics of the kids. We went to Kings Island for a Halloween thing and it was soo hot! It was super crowded so we didn't really get to do much. Coach had his conference meet last week and the 8th graders won! Yesterday, we went to the pumpkin patch.... pictures to come! On a side note, monkey's flag football team had their first win and monkey scored a touchdown!!

Yeah, I still have a blog

I just don't post very often! I have a ton of pictures to take off my camera but just haven't gotten around to it! My parents were here for my bday and we had a great time! My mom and I accomplish so much when she is here! So i found this website and think it is so cute! I am going to try to do some of her ideas out. I have divided plates for the kids I will use instead of the bento boxes. Here are their lunches from today and a pic of a recent trip to the park - I am loving that my new phone can send pics directly to Picasa! So fun. Monkey is loving football again - this year he is the Lions and they are 0-2 but he loves it so that is all that matters!!

Halloween

I am sooo ready for fall! It is supposed to be blazing hot this week still - yuck! My sweaters and boots are screaming, "Wear ME!".. I am so sick of my summer clothes.. uggh! We have started to think about Halloween this year. I think sweet girl will be a Miami Cheerleader (Carey gave us Hallie's old dress!) and monkey will be a Miami Hockey Player. We have mostly everything, just need to get a helmet and pompoms. I would love to get these - how cute are they??

Sweet Girl's First Haircut!

Even though we are growing out sweet girl's hair, she needed a trim! It is actually pretty long when it is wet but it curls up when dry. The lady only cut about 1/4" off but it looks a little better. We all thought for sure she would scream and cry the whole time but she was all smiles. I am not sure she realized what was happening.

 

 

 

 

First Day of Preschool

Here are my standard 3 pictures I have taken of monkey each year of preschool! He loved his first day - they only downfall was that I had to walk him in... he wanted to do it by himself! His favorite part of the day was snack - Cheese Balls! What they had for snack is about all I get out of him every day. Other than that, everything is boring! Oh well.. I know he really loves it.
