Golf and Zoo

Last week, monkey finished Golf Camp. He loved it. We weren't allowed to bring his clubs and they used big foam clubs. They had to wear helmets when they used the driver - pretty funny!

Tuesday, we went to the zoo with one of the guys coach works with and his family. They have a pass so we got in free! YAY! Monkey got to feed the giraffes crackers which really grossed me out but he didn't seem to mind! The weather has been great week and in the afternoons, he has been going to 'Camp Durfield'. He calls it Camp Garfield! A high schooler down the street does a summer camp for all the neighborhood kids. All we can get out of him is that they run through the sprinklers. His hair was orange today when I picked him up!

First Foods

We started solids with sweet girl this week! A week early but we were eager to try them! I am trying a new solids appoach - it's called Baby Led Weaning (BLW)- with weaning basically meaning feeding. We skip runny purees and go to soft table foods. The idea is to give them big soft chunks of food that they can pick up and eat themselves. We tried avocado as her first one. She mostly just played with it but she did get a few bites in. Next up, steamed sweet potatoes!

Skating

When we were in Oxford, Carey's husband let us skate on the brand new ice. It was soo nice! Monkey loved it and did a great job! I was a little rusty on my skates! It's been awhile!

Golf

Monkey is really into golf! Coach bought him some cute little clubs and he just finished a week of golf camp. There were 2 teachers and 6 kids. It was funny - they had to wear helmets when they used the drivers. When were in Oxford, coach took him to the driving range.

Hilton Head

We had a great time in HHI! Here are some pictures of our visit. Monkey and sweet girl both LOVED the beach! In Savannah, we took a horse carraige tour, a riverboat tour and walked around River St. My first try using Priceline was great and our hotel was awesome!

Dinner

Tonight, we are going to our friends Erin and Martin's house for a last party at their house. They have decided to make the move to the 'burbs like us but unfortunatly, not our 'burbs! We have a sitter coming for monkey but I think we will take sweet girl with us. People want to see her! I found this recipe I am going to take - It definatly looks YUM! I didn't make my own jelly - I need to get my mom's recipe for it! I also bought the pre made Phyllo Cups.

Mini Cream Cheese and Pepper Jelly Phyllo Cups

6 frozen phyllo sheets, thawed
2 Tbsp. butter, melted
1 pkg. (8 oz.) Cream Cheese, cut into 36 cubes
6 Tbsp. Hot Pepper Jelly

PREHEAT oven 350°F. Place 1 of the phyllo sheets on work surface. Brush with butter; top with second phyllo sheet. Brush top with butter; cut into 24 (2-inch) squares. Stack 2 squares, on an angle, to make 4 thicknesses; repeat with remaining phyllo sheets and butter. Press 1 stack into each of 36 miniature (1-1/2-inch) muffin cups.
ADD 1 cream cheese cube to each cup. Bake 20 min. or until cream cheese is melted and pastry is golden brown.
TOP each serving with 1/2 tsp. Hot Pepper Jelly.

ETA - These were as not as yum as I thought!

First Post

So.. I have been reading a lot of blogs in the past few months and when my friend, Corey decided to create a family blog, I thought I could too. Of course she is a reporter and loves to write! I am going to try to keep this up with stories and pictures so you can catch a glimpse of our daily life!

Today, monkey had golf camp and then we hit up the Castle House Shoe Sale. I LOVE that sale! He got a cute pair of rain boots, brown shoes for now and cute navy canvas tennies for next summer. Sweet girl got a cute pair too. He is wearing a size 10 now and I had those already in my stash from the last sale! I also got sweet girl a cute Lilly cover-up for the pool next year (below) and monkey a golf shirt for the 4th of July. Then we went to our old neighbors for dinner and ice cream at Aglamesis... I miss that place! Now everyone is sleeping and I am enjoying my DVR'd shows!
